This collection consists of one album containing 29 cartes de visite of members of the Association of Officers of the 55th 质量achusetts Infantry Regiment, one of 质量achusetts' two black infantry regiments during the Civil War. 的 association was a veterans' organization for officers who served with that regiment, and the photographs are mostly of white officers from the 55th, as well as one carte de visite of an unidentified black soldier. Many of the photographs are identified and were taken both during and after the Civil War. 照片graphers include H. C. 福斯特 (Charlestown and Morris Island, S.C.), 阿莫斯H. 洛克 (Plymouth, 质量.), and John Adams Whipple (Boston, 质量.), among others.
